HTMA Perth | Mineral Balance, Stress & Root-Cause Health

There’s no stone unturned here at Nourished with Love.

One of the biggest reasons I continue to expand and strengthen my clinic is because so many people are still searching for answers. They know something doesn’t feel right in their body, yet standard testing often comes back “normal,” leaving them feeling unheard, frustrated, and stuck.

That’s why I’m so excited to introduce HTMA (Hair Tissue Mineral Analysis) into my clinic.

HTMA is another valuable tool that allows us to look deeper into the body through a root-cause lens, helping uncover mineral imbalances, stress patterns, toxic elements, and deeper underlying patterns that may be contributing to symptoms

.

This is not about chasing symptoms.

It’s about understanding the body as a whole.

What Is Hair Tissue Mineral Analysis (HTMA)?

HTMA (Hair Tissue Mineral Analysis) is a non-invasive test that analyses the mineral content of your hair to provide insight into mineral balance, stress patterns, metabolism, and detoxification pathways within the body.

Unlike blood tests, which can show a short-term snapshot, HTMA reflects patterns over time and may help uncover underlying imbalances contributing to ongoing symptoms.

Minerals play a foundational role in how the body functions. When they are out of balance, it can impact areas such as energy, mood, stress resilience, digestion, hormones, sleep, and overall wellbeing.

This can be particularly relevant during times of hormonal change such as perimenopause and menopause, where the body may be under increased stress and nutrient demand.

The body relies on minerals for nearly every process:

  • Nervous system function

  • Hormone production

  • Energy production

  • Thyroid and adrenal function

  • Blood sugar regulation

  • Detoxification pathways

  • Digestion and stomach acid production

  • Muscle and nerve signalling

  • Mood and brain function

  • Recovery and resilience

When mineral balance begins to shift, the body often starts sending signals.

Sometimes those signals appear as fatigue. Sometimes anxiety. Sometimes hormone issues, burnout, hair loss, digestive problems, or simply feeling “off” without clear answers.

Many Symptoms Are Not Random

Many symptoms are not random; they can be signals from the body that something may be out of balance. HTMA helps uncover patterns behind those symptoms so we’re not simply guessing.

HTMA may be helpful for those experiencing:

  • Low energy and ongoing fatigue

  • Anxiety, stress, or feeling overwhelmed

  • Hormone imbalances and adrenal stress

  • Hair loss, thinning hair, or poor hair growth

  • Poor sleep, burnout, or nervous system dysregulation

  • Digestive issues and gut-related symptoms

  • Poor recovery, or feeling rundown

  • Mood, focus, or concentration challenges

  • Feeling “off” without getting clear answers from standard testing

Many people spend years trying supplements, restrictive diets, or symptom-based approaches without understanding why their body is struggling in the first place.

HTMA helps us look at the bigger picture.

What Can Hair Tissue Mineral Analysis (HTMA) Reveal?

This test allows us to see deeper patterns in the body, including:

  • Mineral deficiencies and mineral imbalances

  • Heavy metal exposure and detoxification patterns

  • Nervous system stress and burnout patterns

  • Adrenal and thyroid function support

  • Metabolic rate patterns (fast or slow)

  • Energy production, fatigue, and recovery patterns

  • Blood sugar and stress-related mineral trends

  • Possible underlying patterns contributing to symptoms

This isn’t just information; it helps us understand why symptoms may be happening and what the body may need to support balance and healing.

One of the most valuable parts of HTMA is that it often helps connect dots that previously seemed unrelated.

For example:

  • Stress can impact mineral balance

  • Mineral imbalance can affect energy

  • Poor energy can affect digestion

  • Digestive dysfunction can affect nutrient absorption

  • Nervous system stress can impact hormones and sleep

The body is deeply connected.

Why Minerals Matter More Than Most People Realise

Minerals are often overlooked in modern health conversations.

Yet minerals are required for thousands of processes within the body.

Magnesium alone is involved in hundreds of enzymatic reactions.

Sodium and potassium play major roles in adrenal and nervous system function.

Zinc supports immunity, digestion, hormones, skin, and healing.

Copper, calcium, iron, selenium, and manganese all interact together in complex ways.

This is why simply taking random supplements without understanding balance can sometimes create more problems. The body does not work in isolation. Everything affects everything.

HTMA allows us to step back and assess patterns more comprehensively.

Heavy Metals and Toxic Elements

Another reason HTMA can be incredibly valuable is because it may provide insight into toxic element exposure and detoxification capacity.

Heavy metals and toxic elements can place stress on the body over time.

While HTMA is not used as a standalone diagnostic tool, it can provide important clues that help guide a more personalised support plan.

Some people may be unknowingly carrying a higher toxic burden while also struggling with:

  • Low mineral reserves

  • Chronic stress

  • Poor detoxification

  • Burnout

  • Digestive dysfunction

  • Nervous system dysregulation

This is where looking at the whole picture matters.

HTMA and Stress Patterns

One of the most interesting aspects of HTMA is the insight it may provide into stress and nervous system patterns. Many people today are living in a constant state of stress.

Even if someone is eating well, chronic stress can impact:

  • Mineral balance

  • Digestion

  • Hormones

  • Sleep

  • Recovery

  • Energy production

The body may adapt to stress for a period of time, but eventually it often begins showing signs that support is needed.

HTMA may help identify patterns linked to:

  • Burnout

  • Adrenal stress

  • Exhaustion

  • Wired-but-tired patterns

  • Nervous system dysregulation

This can be particularly useful when symptoms don’t seem to fully match standard blood work.

HTMA for Children

HTMA can also be a valuable tool for children.

Children today are exposed to a wide range of stressors, from processed foods and environmental toxins to nervous system stress and nutrient depletion.

Some children may struggle with:

  • Mood and emotional regulation

  • Focus and concentration

  • Low energy

  • Poor sleep

  • Digestive issues

  • Food sensitivities

  • Skin concerns

  • Ongoing immune challenges

  • Hyperactivity and behavioural challenges

  • Sensory overwhelm and nervous system dysregulation

Many parents are also beginning to explore the connection between mineral imbalances, toxic elements, nervous system health, and symptoms often associated with ADHD, focus, mood, and behavioural regulation.

HTMA may provide valuable insight into:

  • Mineral patterns linked to stress and nervous system function

  • Heavy metal and toxic element exposure

  • Adrenal stress patterns

  • Nutrient imbalances that may impact focus, mood, sleep, and energy

While HTMA is not used to diagnose conditions such as ADHD, it can help provide a broader understanding of underlying stress and mineral patterns within the body.

As always, every child is different.

The goal is never to label children as “broken,” but rather to better understand what their body may need support with and whether underlying mineral imbalances, stress patterns, or possible toxic element exposure may be contributing to internal imbalances and ongoing symptoms.

HTMA Works Well Alongside Other Functional Testing

One of the reasons I’m so excited to bring HTMA into my clinic is because it works beautifully alongside other root-cause approaches.

HTMA can compliment:

  • Functional nutrition

  • GAPS™ nutritional support

  • SmartDNA testing

  • Microbiome testing

  • Lifestyle and nervous system support

Each tool helps add another layer to the picture.

For example:

  • SmartDNA help us understand genetic tendencies, nutrient pathways, detoxification, stress responses, and areas of potential vulnerability within the body

  • HTMA help us understand what is happening in the body now on a cellular level, including mineral balance, stress patterns, metabolism, and possible toxic element exposure, often providing a broader picture over time compared to standard blood tests

  • Microbiome testing help us understand gut patterns, bacterial balance, digestion, and factors influencing gut health and inflammation

  • GAPS™ nutritional support focuses on healing and nourishing the gut through a food-first, root-cause approach that supports the body as a whole

Together, this allows for a more personalised, bio-individual, and root-cause focused approach to health and wellbeing.

Why I Chose to Add HTMA to My Clinic

I’m passionate about root-cause investigations.

I want clients to feel seen, heard, and supported, not dismissed.

Too many people are told their symptoms are “normal,” when deep down they know something is not right.

HTMA allows us to gather more information, reduce guessing, and create more personalised support pathways. It’s another piece of the puzzle. And in many cases, it may help explain why someone feels the way they do.

My Approach to HTMA

I don’t simply hand over a report. I help interpret the patterns in a way that is practical and understandable.

Your HTMA results are looked at alongside:

  • Symptoms

  • Lifestyle

  • Stress patterns

  • Nutrition

  • Gut health

  • Overall health picture

Depending on your needs, support may include:

  • Personalised nutrition guidance

  • Mineral and supplement support

  • Nervous system support

  • Lifestyle recommendations

  • Gut health support

  • Further testing recommendations if appropriate

This is always tailored to the individual.

There is no one-size-fits-all approach here.

Getting Started

If you’re feeling overwhelmed, tired, burnt out, stuck, or simply know something isn’t quite right, you don’t need to figure it out alone.

The best place to begin is usually with an Initial Consultation, where we can look at your health history, symptoms, and goals to decide whether HTMA or another pathway may be appropriate.

If you’re already familiar with HTMA or looking for focused mineral support, you may also book directly into the HTMA Consultation & Personalised Plan.

Final Thoughts

Health is rarely as simple as “one symptom, one answer.”

The body is interconnected.

Minerals, stress, digestion, hormones, nervous system function, toxic load, lifestyle, and nutrition all influence each other.

HTMA is one more way to look deeper, ask better questions, and support the body more comprehensively.

No stone unturned.
